I'm still in two minds about the changes to reanimation protocols. During the games it does feel more fluid now but when you first see the rules in the codex it does make it sound more complicated than it is:
So if a model is killed and has 2 wounds, you need 2D6 and you need to roll two 5+'s. If it has 1 wound, you need 1D6 and you need to roll one 5+.
Scenario One:
My unit of 10 Necron warriors gets attacked and 3 are killed. For reanimation protocols, I pick up 3 D6 (1 wound for each model, 1x3), roll them and get one 5, so one model reanimates.
Scenario Two:
My unit of 3 Skorpekh Destroyers gets attacked and two is killed. For reanimation protocols, I pick up 6 D6 (3 wounds for each model, 3x2), get two 5's and everything else is below 5, so none of my units return as I needed at least three 5+ in order to reanimate one model.
In practise it makes things smoother, I'm personally starting to like it but what does everyone else think?
Reference Steps:
- After an enemy unit attacks, if any models in this unit were destroyed, Reanimation Protocol rolls are made.
- For each model destroyed by those attacks, roll number of D6 equal to it's wounds characteristic. Each 5+ added to a pool.
- Number of dice in pool / Wounds characteristic = number of models Reanimated and added back to the unit.
